Recorded in studios like Island Sound, Bighorn Mountain Ranch, and Mercedes-Benz Stadium, this album falls under the Hip-Hop genre. Produced by Boi-1da, Mike Dean, E.Vax of Ratatat, 88 Keys, Swizz Beatz, Wheezy, and Gesaffelstein, the album encapsulates the contributions of JAY-Z(on “Jail”), The Weeknd, Jay Electronica, The Lox, Young Thug, the late Pop Smoke, Travis Scott, Lil Baby, Kid Cudi, Lil Durk, Lil Yachty, Baby Keem, Playboi Carti, Ty Dolla $ign, Don Toliver, Fivio Foreign, and Chris Brown.

Labeled after his late mother Donda West, this album comprises 27 tracks. “DONDA” was initially set to be released on July 24, 2020, but got delayed eventually over time. After several listening events, with West setting up his interim recording studio at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, following his final listening event at Soldier Field in Chicago, West dropped his album.

However, after the release, Kanye West took to social media and posted on Instagram claiming, “Universal put my album out without my approval and they blocked ‘Jail 2’ from being on the album”. He further added, “his label Good Def Jam released DONDA without his approval”. Apart from his usual delay regarding music drops, West raised allegations against the few this time.
