TWICE Leader Jihyo Receives Massive Fan Backing Amid Accusations of Rudeness

Jihyo, the leader of the popular K-pop group TWICE, has been met with immense support from fans following recent allegations of rude behavior. Despite a negative article on Koreaboo, fans have flooded the internet with tweets, photos, videos, and posts to showcase their unwavering loyalty to the singer. Currently on their ‘Ready To Be’ World Tour, TWICE, known for their dedicated fanbase called ‘Once,’ has been touring since May. Fans have actively shared the story on various platforms, defending Jihyo by providing videos, photos, and personal encounters that contradict the allegations. The controversy originated from a fan’s post on the online forum Reddit, where they recounted their encounter with Jihyo and another group member, Nayeon, at a store the day after their Chicago concert. While Jihyo’s response was perceived as condescending, fans on Reddit have come to her defense, criticizing the amplification of a Reddit post into a story. Supporters also highlighted the issue of Sasaengs, devoted followers in South Korean culture who intrude on the lives of idols and public figures, emphasizing the importance of recognizing that idols are human beings too. It’s worth noting that such allegations are not uncommon in the K-pop industry, as seen with Aespa member Ningning facing similar accusations in 2022, which were later clarified as a misunderstanding. TWICE’s tour dates reveal that the band will take a break after July and resume in September.
