Billie Eilish Denounces Texas Abortion Law

The Grammy-winning American singer and songwriter, Billie Eilish, slams Texas for its controversial law on abortion during her performance at Austin City Limits.

The singer took to stage to perform some of her hits. However, in the middle, she interrupted discussing politics, the issue of climate change, and denouncing the abortion law implemented by Texas, which came into force on September 1, after getting passed by the U.S. Supreme Court.

The singer further said that she was almost going to drop the show as a sign of protest against this heinous law. “I’m sick and tired of old men. Shut the f- up about our bodies”, outbursts Eilish. It seems that such an outburst was pre-planned as the words “Bans Off Our Bodies” flashed on the screen behind her.

Critics commented that many women remain completely unaware of their pregnancy even at six weeks when a fetal heartbeat can be detected. Also, this law doesn’t provide any exceptions for rape or incest. It even allows the citizens of Texas to sue the people helping any woman get an abortion.

Eilish concluded the show screaming out loud, “tell them to shut the f- up” before raising her middle finger. She added, “Makes me sick how many men say nothing when it comes to women’s rights.”
