Sony Music Launches New Label “Day One” to Support Indie Artists

Sony Music launches a new record label, ‘Day One’ to support the rising South Asian Indie talents to showcase the dialectal diversity of the region.

Rajat Kakkar, Managing Director, Sony Music India, comments on this initiative saying, “Day One ties in with our close philosophy and helps us bring a vast repertoire of artists to our listeners, as we cater to the latter’s ever-expanding music tastes”. He also says that though the Internet has helped a lot these days to expand the reach out of the artists, still it’s quite back-breaking to make yourself as well as your work noticeable within a shorter time frame. He further adds, “Day One aims to support the eclectic soundscape and rich linguistic diversity that South Asian artists have to offer and connect the artists with their desired audience.”

In an attempt to support the passion of the South Asian artists, the label has signed its first three enthusiastic talents – Tanmaya Bhatnagar, Pina Colada Blues( Kevin Shaji ), and Kasyap.

Tanmaya Bhatnagar, 27, is well-known for her enchanting vocals, and amazing guitar work combined with her ability to compose songs in a beautiful yet simplistic manner. Her rendition of the single debut “Kya Tum Naraaz Ho” garnered praise and recognition from the great singer, songwriter, and composer A.R. Rahman.

The next artist that they have signed is, Kevin Shaji, aka, Pina Colada Blues, who is an upcoming composer with a desire to blur the lines of genres and languages with his productions. Dream, electro-pop, trap, R&B, hip-hop, Carnatic, and eastern-infused western styles usually underpin his genres of work.

And, next talent on the list is a 21-year-old singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and composer – Kasyap. Having a great taste in music has helped him infuse various music styles like pop, funk, R&B, and more. He desires to create music afresh and hopes to redefine the future of Pop music, and wants his music to be consumed globally.

The label “One Day” is all set to deliver chartbusters and expand their horizon globally.
