LNDF Unveils Philodendron Ring Buffer A FREE Plugin for Experimental Sounds

LNDF has launched the Philodendron ring buffer plugin, a free tool for creating unique and experimental sounds.

The plugin is available as a VST for both macOS and Windows.

Philodendron works as a container that continuously rewrites itself. For a clear idea of its capabilities, visit the product page to hear the audio demo. The demo showcases its effect on a piano track.

A user manual, linked on the product page, includes a labeled diagram explaining how the plugin functions. The “Present” section lies between the “Write” and “Reference” points.

You can use up to four heads to read the “Present” as it updates. Alternatively, freeze the buffer to explore the “Past.”

The audio demo highlights how Philodendron alters sound, from subtle changes to completely experimental tones. It can make a piano part unrecognizable.

LNDF advises caution with volume when using the Feedback control, suggesting a compressor or limiter to manage loud output.

The interface is unconventional, featuring layers of circular parameters resembling an onion. While visually complex at first, the manual provides detailed guidance.

Key controls include Read Offset, Buffer Size, Read Speed, Feedback, Head Speed Ratio, Number of Heads, and Dry/Wet.

Downloading Philodendron is simple, with macOS and Windows installers available via single-click links on the product page. The source code is also accessible on LNDF’s GitHub.

LNDF, an indie developer based in Paris, stands for “Le Nom Des Fleurs” (Flower Names). The plugin’s origins are explained on the “How and Why” page, revealing it stemmed from work on a prior plugin, Hellebore.

Like Philodendron, Hellebore is free and generates experimental sounds through feedback loops.

If you’re looking for a creative spark or something beyond the ordinary, Philodendron offers a fresh and innovative option.
