Audio Assault Unveils FREE Bass Guitar Amp Plugin for Windows, Mac & Linux

Audio Assault has launched Bass Locker, a comprehensive toolkit designed specifically for bass enthusiasts. This plugin suite offers an array of bass amps, cabinets, pedals, effects, and diverse room acoustics to craft your ideal sound.

Bass Locker serves as a one-stop solution for all your bass tone needs. It features a variety of amp models and effect pedals that can be accessed through a unified interface.

While some components require additional licenses to unlock, managing these purchases is seamless within the plugin. Users can try out demo versions of all models they haven’t purchased, making it easy to explore before committing.

Accompanying this suite is BassTR, a free standalone bass amp that’s included right out of the box. Installation is quick and straightforward, and once set up, you get full access to its features instantly.

BassTR comes equipped with standard controls like Drive, Level, Bass, Low Mid/High Mid, Treble, and Master, along with a collection of useful presets such as clean, punchy, modern, and heavy distorted tones.

However, the real magic happens when you use BassTR inside the Bass Locker environment. Here, you can customize each step of your signal chain with pedals and effects placed before or after the amp and cab modules. While some pedals require activation to use, Bass Locker includes a solid array of free effects, ranging from EQs and compressors to the iconic green screamer.

On the cabinet side, Bass Locker provides several cab emulations with quirky names like Finder Rumble410 and Citrus OBC410. You can also tweak the environment by selecting different room types, ranging from basic settings to more unusual spaces like Empty Garage, Untreated Room, Cave, Drum Room, Bath, Concert Hall, Subway, and Old Factory.

Additionally, the plugin allows you to fine-tune mic placement and choose between various microphone types—dynamic, condenser, and ribbon—to get the exact tone you’re after.

Bass Locker is available in 64-bit AU, VST, VST3, and AAX formats, making it compatible with macOS, Windows, and Linux.
