Revolt DSP Unveils EVOampLite, Free Guitar Amp Simulator (Windows & macOS)

Revolt DSP has introduced EVOampLite, a free guitar amp simulator for Windows and macOS. This VST3 and standalone plugin marks the company’s first venture into amp simulation, aiming to capture “over 40 years of rock and metal tone history” in a single package.

EVOampLite serves as a precursor to the more comprehensive EVOampSuite, slated for release in September 2024. The plugin features a 6L6 blue-channel amp model and includes four effects: reverb, delay, noise gate, and overdrive. Users can choose between two cabinet simulations: a custom 6L6-inspired option and a large 4×12 cabinet with vintage speakers.

The developer has included 20 presets created in collaboration with artists and YouTubers during the testing phase. Revolt DSP claims their “first gen of wave analogue modelling techniques” results in up to 60% less CPU usage compared to some competitors.

EVOampLite is a compact download, with the Windows version at 20.6 MB and the Mac version at 19.9 MB. The latest update (version 1.0.1) added full ASIO driver support for the standalone plugin, enabling dual/stereo input mode.

System requirements include Windows 10 (64-bit) or macOS X Sonoma 14.4.1, though older systems may be compatible. To download EVOampLite, users must provide an email address and personal details during checkout, which may concern some potential users.

Revolt DSP offers additional free guitar plugins on their website, including various effects and an impulse response loader. They also sell four impulse response packs for £10 each.
